What We Do

Transportation Alternatives Program (TA)

The purpose of the MPO’s Transportation Alternatives (TA) grant reimbursement program is to prioritize funding for active transportation projects for non-motorized users. This federal program, in coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), is an annual competitive application process where projects are submitted to the MPO and then ranked and prioritized for funding of approximately $5.1M annually. Eligible entities include local governments, regional transportation authorities, transit agencies, natural resource or public land agencies, school districts, local education agencies, and tribal governments in Palm Beach County. Click the “Program Overview” link below for more details about Eligible Project Sponsors, Project Eligibility, and when projects are prioritized and funded.

The annual Call for Applications opens each October and closes in February.

The TA projects are prioritized in the List of Priority Projects, which is presented to the committees and Governing Board each July.

Applications due February 13, 2026
